Maui and evil eel

Maui and evil eel

Long, long ago there was pa near lake Rotorua. Maui the powerful warrior was dull and he was starving. You could hear his tummy   grumbling as his brothers was teasing him.
Suddenly Maui called out to his brothers.”Did you see my waka?”
Meanwhile, in the  deep dark depths  there lived an eel he was a trickster. He wanted to catch Maui’s waka so that he could catch fish with it. The eel  had been sleeping ten years. The eel  was so  hungry that he ate up  everyone of the fish.   Maui and  brothers were left with  nothing to eat.
Maui was very angry .So Maui lay rotten fish in the water leaving  a foul aroma. The eel snift the fish and quickly glades out of the water.  Maui was standing with his hands on his hips. He was holding  sharp green stone. He throw it and and the eel  fell  down.
Now the people  were not starving because they were having feast in honber of Maui.
